hello ,putting together a 68 Roadrunner, bought a used 383 out of a70 roadrunner from eBay,cleaned up motor turns out its a 65 ,trying to find a damper bolt ,thought it was a 3/4 fine thread but that didn't work bought a 3/4 corse at local hardware store also NG ,there are some on eBay but they start at 66 and up is this a specie thread ,classic offers one AR1441 27.99 should I just try that one ???

If your local parts store has the dampner installation tool, get it. It has the longer bolt in it to get the dampner started and all the way on to the crank. Most will give you your money back when you return it.

The crank bolt isn't long enough and you take a chance of pulling the first couple of threads out of the crank. I even hear of people hammering the dampner on to the crank to get it started. That's a bad thing to do in my opinion.

Look up DAVESCUDA on FABO. He's near you and probably has a bunch of them laying around. I'm a longer drive but I've got a spare too.

Thanks ordered one on eBay it goes in two threads and stops I'll have bolt checked I'll rent that tool thanks bought this motor used ,bolt was missing thanks

if it goes in two threads and stops check the crank after you check your bolt
you can make a thread chaser by cutting groves in a same threaded bolt if you do not have access to a tap
