Hey there!

My name is Ryan, and I am the proud new owner of a 1967 Belvedere II 2door hardtop with a 383 4-barrel automatic, factory a/c.

I am in the process of totally restoring it, and I am totally new to doing stuff like this. So I shall choose to thank everyone, in advance, for all the answers to questions that I will inevitably ask. haha.

Thank you for your time and interest!

NIce.

383-4 A/C cars are somewhat rare in the H price class (WH Coronet 440, and RH Belvedere II).

Welcome to FBBO Ryan aka Tommyboy.. Nice project good luck to you!

Cool 67 Belvedere II project, welcome to the FBBO forum..

Looks like you had a fight to get the car away from the mice! That ought to keep ya busy when the cold winds blow.

Hey thanks for saving another one from the brink....welcome aboard. Good luck with your new project!!

welcome tommy boy.how long was the car sitting before you got it?

Hello everyone! Thank you for the comments. Sorry for my delayed responses here.

Here's what I've discerned from the car so far: I have the original title for the car, and I am the 3rd owner. It has been sitting in a salvage yard since about 1984. I want to punch the last owner in the face because... as you can see by looking at the pictures... he started sanding it down and repairing it... and then just quit halfway through it and sold it to the salvage yard. So basically he sanded off all the protection.. then it sat for almost 3 decades. But, that being said... the car is very straight with minimal dings and dents. The driver's side door will need to be repaired from a dent. As far as rust... well.. it has some. Right about the windshield, there are pinholes from rusting... so that'll need repairs. all 4 lower quarters will need replacement, and there is a crossmember underneath the car that has rusted out where it attaches to the unibody.

The goodnews: the car has all the original glass, and 95% of all the chrome and parts it needs. The floors inside the car are in 98% condition with just some surface rust in a few expected places, but nothing eaten through or weakened to the point of needing replacement. The trunk is in 90% condition with most of it still having the original paint, but the passenger side of the trunk has a couple golf-ball sized holes eaten through it that will need some replacement. The engine is 383, and was running when it was parked, and the crank still turns, which is a good sign. The car is an automatic, but I MIGHT like to put a manual trans in there before I finish. not sure. The car appears to have been Bright blue metallic, which I am considering going back with, or perhaps the next shade darker.

Right now, I have pulled out all the interior and am about to start dismantling the dash. Any tricks on getting the glass out of the car? i've never taken glass out of a car before. I am kind of learning as I go on this car, but I have an uncle who has rebuilt many cars, and I am going to be talking with him ALOT. haha.

Thanks to all for the comments here. I'll find a place and start a thread chronicling the steps of this restoration. And I do admit, it feels really good to have saved this car from the brink, and I look forward to hearing her engine rumble, and seeing the sun gleam off her lines again someday. :)

Anyone here from Oklahoma?

One other thing.. i probably vacuumed out 5 gallons of rat poop. and another 5 gallons in sticks and nesting from them. I can tell there is more behind the dash too, but the car has stopped smelling, so I feel I have gotten most of it. haha.

Hey Ryan, Glad to see you made it over here. I think you will get more help here then at the other site. Most of these guys are focused on B bodies and quite a few have brought cars back worse then yours. Check out the restoration thread to see some of the hard core restores under way. Good luck with yours, keep us posted.

Hey Ken! Thank you :) My project is kind of on hold right now. I'm trying to get my brother in law's stuff out of my garage and into his new house. I'm ready to have my full garage back so I can get to work. Also, still stuck on the "needing money for my project" problem... but i'll get there. ;)

Hello everyone.

I hope you all won't be "too" disappointed in my announcement. ...But upon alot of thought, I'm looking to trade/sell my project locally. To be totally honest, I am a bit overwhelmed with the rust issues on this car. If I were a seasoned, skilled restorer, or had deep pockets, I would think otherwise, but I am neither of those. haha. So I am looking to trade/sell it, and I am also selling a couple of my guns to raise an extra grand or two, and with that combined, I'm hoping to find another mopar project out there that isnt facing major bodywork and panel-patching.

I am eyeballing, locally, a 68 Satellite 2dr hardtop that has a 318 in near running condition, and also a 68 Super Bee with a 383 and minor rust issues. So we'll see how that goes.

Either way, I'll stay a MOPAR man, so I'll keep you guys informed on what ends up happening with me. THanks to all for your encouragements.

Good luck to you! Have to do whats best, the two you mentioned sound good... Wish you luck, take your time and get the one thats your fancy, you'll be much happier when its over.

Welcome aboard...

Rob

About my last post... I've put some more thought into it.. I'm not going to get into a hurry to sell it. I am going to take it one day at a time. I spent some time, over the weekend, out in my garage working on the car... and I am gonna see what happens over the next 3-6months before I just get rid of this car. It's a keeper.
