Hello everyone! Thank you for the comments. Sorry for my delayed responses here.
Here's what I've discerned from the car so far: I have the original title for the car, and I am the 3rd owner. It has been sitting in a salvage yard since about 1984. I want to punch the last owner in the face because... as you can see by looking at the pictures... he started sanding it down and repairing it... and then just quit halfway through it and sold it to the salvage yard. So basically he sanded off all the protection.. then it sat for almost 3 decades. But, that being said... the car is very straight with minimal dings and dents. The driver's side door will need to be repaired from a dent. As far as rust... well.. it has some. Right about the windshield, there are pinholes from rusting... so that'll need repairs. all 4 lower quarters will need replacement, and there is a crossmember underneath the car that has rusted out where it attaches to the unibody.
The goodnews: the car has all the original glass, and 95% of all the chrome and parts it needs. The floors inside the car are in 98% condition with just some surface rust in a few expected places, but nothing eaten through or weakened to the point of needing replacement. The trunk is in 90% condition with most of it still having the original paint, but the passenger side of the trunk has a couple golf-ball sized holes eaten through it that will need some replacement. The engine is 383, and was running when it was parked, and the crank still turns, which is a good sign. The car is an automatic, but I MIGHT like to put a manual trans in there before I finish. not sure. The car appears to have been Bright blue metallic, which I am considering going back with, or perhaps the next shade darker.
Right now, I have pulled out all the interior and am about to start dismantling the dash. Any tricks on getting the glass out of the car? i've never taken glass out of a car before. I am kind of learning as I go on this car, but I have an uncle who has rebuilt many cars, and I am going to be talking with him ALOT. haha.
Thanks to all for the comments here. I'll find a place and start a thread chronicling the steps of this restoration. And I do admit, it feels really good to have saved this car from the brink, and I look forward to hearing her engine rumble, and seeing the sun gleam off her lines again someday.
Anyone here from Oklahoma?
