67 Console lid strap

Hi,
I am starting to fix some details on my 67 Charger. The strap which prevents the console lid from opening 180 degrees is broken, see picture. While pretty much all parts of the console can be bought new, I cannot find a place who sells this thing? Any idea?

Solder a couple electrical ring connectors to a piece of 12 ga copper ( insulation color of your choice ).

I have several ideas for dirty fixes. I am just surprised noone is repoping the "correct" part. that one must be broken on 99% of the consoles.
