I'm throwing around the idea of getting either side exit exhaust or running it out the back.I put on headers and have been running with just them after having them ceramic coated. I also bought the 24" Dynomax bullets after hearing them on a friends duster with a 318. I'm not too sure yet, but a picture of a 66 Charger has me wanting side exit again. I wanted to hear pros and cons of either and recommdations. This site has many knowledgeable people that have probably done this at one point or another. I also ordered an air gap to couple with a holley 4160 600cfm carb I rebuilt and wanted to know if a 600 would be too much carb on my 318. I know there is a port mismatch with the heads but I'm saving for Indy LA-X heads from IMM. Which later I can swap over to a 408 that I'm slowly gathering parts for. Thanks in advanced for your feedback!

Your car should have exhaust past the rear axle[behind rear wheels or at the bumper] It looks stock[nice], and that other look is kinda cheap looking. 2-cents. It also gets annoying, listening to exhaust after awhile. Again, 2-cents

Side exhaust look like crap...my 2 cents....corvette is the only ok one to me for side exhaust

The side exhaust is very NASCAR looking, if that's the way you are headed. Why not have both? Then you can always use electric cut-outs to open the sides when you want, or close to run out the back.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'm really digging your idea of cutouts 69Runner. I really fell in love with the charger I linked in a picture above. I had the idea after seeing a Petty nascar on a documentary, but seeing a b body around tge same year as mine really made it look good, at least to me. I'll talk to my exhaust guy about the cutout idea, see how much he'll charge, if it's just an arm or a leg too:usflag:

I like the side exit myself, like 69runner said, its NASCAR looking & different. Just about every Mopar you see has the pick up truck exhaust straight out the back but I'm not a hardcore traditionalist either. Do whatever makes you happy, you won't be wrong!
I want to add that the Charger is sitting a lot higher that the Coronet and you may need to convert to a flat oval exhaust if you do decide to go there for clearance...

Thanks for all the insight and info guys. My exhaust guy and I came to the conclusion that out the back would be best around here because the cops harass ya a little less if its still loud.

Something about that 66 Charger setup looks very right with that side exhaust.

Nice Coronet too. Congrats.
