I am having a 440 motor built for my 67 Coronet and have been checking out headers. My car has power steering, with an automatic transmission and my biggest concern is will the headers fit without a major PITA getting them installed.

The ones I am looking to purchase are Hooker Super Competition 5209 HKR: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hok-5209hkr/overview/

The listing says they will fit a 67 Coronet with power steering but I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with these, or other 2” primary headers in a 67 Coronet.

Thanks,

John

Full length headers are always a PITA especially with power steering.

had them in same situation..they fit but capture the starter of which you will have to go to a mini starter

Sorry, I should of been more clear... I can deal with the PITA part, my question is, if 2" primaries will fit at all. Is there a big difference in fitment if I went with 1 7/8"?

Thanks

I have the 1-7/8 Hookers on my GTX. 440 auto power steering. I use the factory starter, but it is a serious pain in the ***. Getting them in, getting them out, working around them. But unless you have horrible luck like me, how often are they going to bother you? As far as the Super Comps, i would assume itll be a bit tighter, and hopefully the bends will be a bit more accurate.

as I said earlier..same headers,stuff,they fit,capture the starter

67 Coronet with a 383. I went with the 1 7/8" Super Comp with power steering and a mini starter. They fit really well.
3" collectors finished it all off with a TTI 3" exhaust.

I have 2" super comps on my 440 with p/s. These are a two piece design. Meaning one primary has a slip fit and the head flange is two piece. They were on the car when I bought it. The slip fit primary is good for installation but mine leak there.
