Going with the original radio in the GTX dash and a modern stereo/CD in the glovebox. Is the original dash speaker a 4 by 10 and the rear deck speakers 6 by 9? I am thinking about running the factory radio to a new 4 by 10 in the dash and the glovebox stereo/CD to new 6 by 9 three ways in the rear. Will this sound like crap unless I invest in some aftermarket speaker kick panels and speakers for the front as well?
I bought an antennae splitter off e-bay so I can run the antennae to each unit and plan to use the Crutchfield under dash universal box to mount the new unit in the glovebox.
Any advice would be appreciated. I like my car music loud occasionally, but am not a sound purist.
Also, I sent the original AM radio to Ward's Classic Radio Repair. He quoted me $145 to refurbish it. When he sent it back he sent me an e-mail stating the clutch that works the push buttons was corroded as it was in the parts radios he had available. The part is not available. He said the radio would work fine, just that I would have to use the knob to tune it rather than be able to preset stations and use the push buttons? If I had known this, I would have found a better radio before I sent the original for refurbishing? Anyone else use Wards? Should this have been something he discussed with me up front before I spent the $145 refurbishing the original radio? Refurbished to me kind of mean in complete working order.
