My fender tag revealed I have 3.23 or did have when it left the factory. The info I have found online says the 383 high performance package had 3.55 gears. Could you alter the makeup of the package? I'm cool with 3.23 if that's what is ACTUALLY in it. What do I look for to confirm it?

Look on the actual rear end by the center section bolts. Sometimes the factory tag is still on the rear with the gear ratio if it hasn't been messed with too much. I have also seen some ring gears stamped on the back side with the ratio. You can do the old turn the tires and count the revolutions of the pinion yoke, but it may be close between the 3.55 and the 3.23 ratios being so close together. Alot of the Chargers came with 3.23 gears from the factory, in both 2 and 4 barrel versions of the 383. You could get them in a 440 or even a Hemi with an automatic as well in an R/T if you wanted. See the tags below as reference... Axle code 4 was 3.23 gear ratio and the 8 in the X category meant Sure Grip.
