.090 shim? I’ve only worked on a 489 so a 742 must be a lot different as far as pinion shimming goes. I think you still need to try to work on getting a little clearer tooth pattern particularly on the coast side.
I think your pinion depth may be very slightly to great from the coast side - kind of hard to tell as the pattern is still a bit indistinct. But the drive side looks pretty good. All in all, I agree with Steve340, it may be pretty much as good as it gets. See what dvw thinks.
Used gears are sometimes difficult to get a real good pattern. R u holding the ring gear with a cloth or towel to create some drag when your turning the pinion? If so send it. Kim
