68 gtx

was as thick as the factory one

THAT is a beautiful thang...so it wasn't made here, good luck tryin' to get one that is...sheeeit, i'd take that all week and twice on sundays!!! lol

The olde GTX'er likes it when you work, Jay...she is lonely for a little while; but you do get back, she gets some lovin' and some presents!!! :toothy4:

Well engine is back in.Ordered a champion radiator before Xmas and of course the guy balled up the order and sent one for a 66 Valiant lol, sent it back and got the right one. This all took a month. So finally i got it put in and finished the tranny lines, added all the fluids.Little shot of petro in the carb and brought the old girl back to life.Couple more weeks to button up a few things and it should be ready for its maiden voyage come spring.Getting pretty excited.

Following along from the start this has come such a long way, You have a lot to be proud of! I remember this car before Matt bought it, when it was for sale then Matt did what i was hoping i could when i seen the grill in it, I wasn't 100% sure but had a idea it was a GTX, seems like forever now, And now its soon to travel the roads again, Wish you luck on that maiden journey!

Cool deal! So Jay, overall on the Champion radiator...what do you think of it? Quality...fit...cooling....How many cores? You pretty happy with it? Was possibly thinking about getting the same for my bird. Great to hear there's life back in her veins.

Will, for the money you cant beat it.3 row and running the car a good 1/2 hour in the shop never above 190 with a 195 stat,no shroud and just a fixed non clutch fan. With the 26" and if you went with a 4 row it would get pretty tight down by the strut rods, about 3/4 of a inch clearance with the 3 row.Bought it from the guy that lists them in the ads on moparts. If you get one just check to see how much twist in the core right away, they all have some but some i have read as much as a 1/2 inch and the guy will exchange with no ?I had one in that 37 chev also and always did the job so yes i like them.$230 to your door 3 row and $240 for the 4 row with the return policy that i am sure those ebay ones dont have.

Appreciate it Jay.....I take it you already had the Radiator support with the opening for the 26" radiator on your GTX? I believe mine is just for a 22". I'd like to run a 26". Thanks for the tip on the strut rods. I have the Hotchkis adjustable's so I can imagine the fit would be even tighter than that. Pretty valuable information. I'm thinking I may go the same route as you, just add on a clutch and a shroud to keep the stroker cool. I know exactly where/who you're talking about over at Moparts. Thanks again.

My opening is for a 22" but i guess champion doesnt make one for a 68-70 b body that why i'm thinking he tried to give me that little A body Radiator. So i went with a 26" and the previous owner already had holes drilled for it,but 4" of the 26" are covered up making it act more like a 22".Stock engine will cool just fine as it is.

Couple money shots outside under its own power:thumbsup:
