68 gtx

Since you're selling it you won't get to enjoy it much. Nice job on the car.

The car turned out great Jay. Did I see it is for sale on moparts?

Everything i own is always for sale for the right price.Always thinking about the next project.I like driving them but the thrill for me is the build and the elusive parts chasing.

Looking good. I'm working on a 69 X right now. Same color & top! I can't wait to lay some rubber and annoy the neighbors.:icon_super:

Another day of cruising it around and another big grin, think i'll be hangin on to it for a while.

Thanks guys, everytime i walk in the shop i cant just walk by i usually stop for a look. The color is sorta strange like it totally changes outside for the good.

Any of you guys ever had the convertor drain back problem? If it sits more then a week without running it drains back and leaks out some.I did some google checks and it seems fairly common with a 727 but i never did find a answer as to what causes it.

I dont have that problem.

Mine has a white ball on a stick poking out of the floor. I just pry recklessly on that stick lever while randomly stomping away at the 2 peddles that seem to influence the engine noise and rear tire smoke.

:headbang:

looks freaken' great, I love the 68's, you've done a great job, two thumbs up...

Shows you that a guy doesnt need to spend what some of those blowhards over on moparts tell you it costs for paint.

Jay,
This is normal to an extent. Chrysler made the tranny to not pump fluid to the torque converter in park. Sometime around 72 they made a kit to replace the shift valve and slight modification to the valve body to make fluid go to the front pump and the converter. You may also have a worn out pump bushing. Another alternative would be to start the car in neutral, this way it will start filling the converter as soon as you turn it over . Or you can put the tranny in neutral during warm up. Then you won't have I am out of transmission fluid feel when you put it in gear.

yeah I just put it in neutral after I fire it up, after about 30 or seconds, so the front pump is turning faster & gets the converter & all passages/lines full of fluid allot faster, it's very common, if they sit for a while between starts, mine only sits about a week at a time & still does it... pretty common stuff...

that's why they say to check the fluid levels in neutral & not park so the converter & passages are all at running levels....

Do you / anyone know why they designed it that way? Curious

It was a design flaw. It was figured out around 1962-ish when the police department would let the car idle for a period of time and then when they went to take off oops transmission was no longer usable. It would blow out the transmission front pump. It took a couple of years for them to figure this out and when they did they came up with the mod to change the shift valve and do a slight mod to the valve body. We are still looking for the paperwork that Chrysler issued and sent to my dad. when we find this I will post it.. He has over 80 years of stuff to look through.
