68 road runner restoration, don't laugh its paid for.

Thanks man. Bring that snow down here and spread about 3 or 4 inches on the roads. Lol im jealous of you guys for one or two days. Rest of the time ill take 60s or 70s. I guess its a trade off with the wet hot humid temps in july and august.

I was gonna take mine for a ride yesterday, but I had to work on the wife's car. sun was out most of the time. the the sky opened up and a mini blizzard hit.
car looks great Jeff!

Basket case, its funny how a little ride after not driving makes a grown man so happy. Lol

that dirty sock woulda been a deal breaker for me.....

hey guys ive started on this car, got it taken apart and worked a door and fender. im so grateful this car is this clean and not much rust. it was a vinyl top car so it has a little bit of rot on the corners of the back window. im not even gonna buy patch panels because the rust is so minimal. ill just brake what metal is needed. going to daytona in november is my goal so im prob. not gonna try to convert to disc before hand, ill just wait till after to do it. the car is original pp1 red so im gonna paint it back that color. gonna ditch the vinyl top though. im gonna buy some 18 in year one magnums for it. any input on them is welcomed. well heres some pics so far of what ive got. any input is always welcome as this is my first mopar restoration. thanks jeffView attachment 133359View attachment 133360View attachment 133361View attachment 133362
Wow! What a great find! Good luck!

Well, goal was met. Were down here in daytona and cruised the strip. Only problem was it wanted to run a little hot and boil water out after I shut it off. All and all I call it a success. I didnt realize how many people love these old mopars. :) its had people around it all weekend. Makes you feel good. I took a couple pics at night 8n the plaza where everyone hangs out and I took a pic at the hotel in valet parking. Btw I parked it myself. Lol

don't sweat the little boil over,it's just marking it's spot. You just need to figure out the sweet spot. Mine used to do that too.

Jeff, I'm looking at buying a set of pulleys from cvf racing and want to make sure I get the right stuff. Are you running a double pulley on the water pump and crank or something different? Thanks in advance and the car looks awesome man!

yes it looking very good ,looks like tere was a good turn and you had fun :headbang:

GOOD ONE Basket Case . . . LMAO . . . can't blame a great looking car like that wanting to mark it's spot ! ! !

The car looks GREAT ! ! ! Well done . . . and you met your goal to boot ! ! !

I love the stance!

I see you lowered the front with the torsion bar. Did you get drop springs?

Also are those the Year One wheels? They look great. The back spacing looks perfect. I hate how my tires sit in so much on my car. They need to fill that big opening

What size rubber are you running?

Sorry if I overlooked all the answers to these.

thanks guys for the props. drew, im running stock type pulleys. a two groove on crank and a one groove on water pump. one belt goes on the crank, water pump, alternator. the other belt just goes on the crank and power steering. the ac kit came with a cast iron pulley that bolts to the front of the crank pulley and has a belt that runs up to the compressor only. the ac pulley isnt very true so im gonna try to buy a 3 groove crank pulley before i charge up the ac.

basketcase, good one on the marking its spot. lol i put a stock water pump from oreillys, im wondering if that might be a problem. i also need to make an adapter to bolt in the fan shroud. its wider than the radiator. any suggestions from you guys would be appreciated.

i actually was wrong on the size of the wheels when i first talked about them. they are all 17 x 9 no staggered ones were available from year one. i bought 275 45 17 for the front ande 285 45 17 for the rear. i drove it all around daytona including a steep incline in and out of the hotel and not once did they rub. kudos to year one on fitment. and looks for that matter. lol i know ive convinced at least one old timer that 17s arent that ghetto.

the rear springs are the original ones so the ride ht in the rear is because the springs are shot prob. it rides great so im prob not gonna change them until theres a problem.

Wow Jeff, You did a fantastic job on that bird! I think it looks great and i really love the setting where you took the photo, does it justice sitting there!

"Heck yeah" what a sweet Bird and congrats on making that Camaro next to you look like a turd.

thanks for the compliment, thats hilarious. it belongs to a friend of mine and i HAD to read him the post. he started busting out laughing. he wins trophies at every car show we go too. hes had nothing but love for my car. he said hes jealous of the attention mine got this year.

I usually don't like wide rims but those look very tasteful and the car looks great, especially that color.

I don't remember having any heating problems with the road runner. I have had some trouble with the sport satellite. The shroud seems to make a big difference for me. I would get the shroud mounted before I worried too much about the heating issue. Glad to see you made your deadline and the show.

Nice job on bring this car back to life! Kudos on you hard work! :hello2:
