69 charger dash switch?

I’m restoring the dash out of my mostly survivor 1969 charger.
Mounted to the bottom of the dash is this speaker switch which is basically a rheostat, so I’m guessing it’s a fader switch?
My car does have rear speakers but they are round so I’m assuming they are not originals.
Is this switch original to my car, or was it added?

Definitely not original to the car. All chargers just had the radio/8track on/volume switch on the radio itself.

Your switch is an original switch & most likely original to the car.

1968 Chargers had the speaker fader switch mounted in the dash to the right of the radio on a separate plate.

In 1969, the fader switch was mounted on the bottom of the dash with a metal bezel.

The rear speaker should be a 5" X 7".

Richard is bang on. My chargers 68/69 had the fader switch for the rear speaker.

Absolutely original to a 69 charger or all 69 b-bodies.

That’s an original fader switch for front and rear speakers (2) speakers only not the 4 speaker system

Yes and have several and the 8 track faders for 4 speaker systems along with all configurations of radios on my stash (am am/fm 8 track)

Curious, what is the aftermarket switch mounted to the lower dash? I have a GV overdrive that needs some kind of overdrive on/off switch and I don't really want to add a second dimmer switch to the floor if I can help it. Thx

From what I’ve seen in chargers (gen2) is one dash speaker and one rear but yes it fades between the two

So why couldn’t you wire in an on/off toggle switch and relay to arm and disarm your OD?

So if there is only a single speaker in the rear, does it go in the drivers side speaker cutout or the passenger side speaker cutout in the rear package tray?

Right I was mainly referring to the AM and AM-FM models. I could not fully remember what the AM-Tape unit functions were. I know there were more speakers and a crossover box. The fader control looked the same but had additional wires as I recall.
