69 Road Runner Restore

Hey guys and gals I have a ? the clips on front and rear window that keep the stainlees trim on I need to replace them. I found them at classic ind. but they want $40.00 per window any ideas where to get them a little cheaper. It seams like the little parts nickel and dime you to death.

get hold of Jeff @ 521 Restoriations. I got mine from him for $25 a set plus shipping. Great guy, fast response to emails. He offers discounts here and on the 'parts.

What is that pop rivets with tails?

very "creative " bodywork. the 1/4s were heavily patched, and the "bodyman" aparently never heard of torches or welders, but was born with a rivet gun in his hand. thankfully the rest of the car is very clean.

Thanks for the help guys will give them a shot I still have a lot of time to get them. I dont expect the car back until may but would like to have the clips ready for body shop. Ill keep pics coming. Basket case how is your ride coming

danged if I know! I work 21 turn, and my buddy works crazy hours too, so It's hard getting together. But he did my '68 Charger R/T a few years back, so I know the runner is in good hands.

Looks like body filler that ran threw the holes. I wish people that were unwilling to do things right would just leave things alone. Great car looks great

Hey OP,

I owned a '69, Y2, 383, 4 sp, bench seat, post RR from '76 to '87. I live in the SF bay area. I wonder if I am a previous owner of your car.

Some unique things about my car that you can check for:

I painted the tail lights black like GTX tail lights.
I installed street hemi leaf springs with lowering blocks and a street hemi dual point distributor.
I installed a pistol grip.
There were a couple of small "puncture wounds" in the lower dash below the ash tray.
I painted the engine bay flat black.
The license plate was 681 PGF.

Is this the same car?

I gotta say...some of these "fixes" people perform on these cars look more like modern art masterpieces...LOL That is good garage art!

Good luck on your resto 69 Roadrunner

I had to look at it for a few minutes but I know exactly what that is.

They took "repair strip" and pop riveted each tab to the outside of the quarter panel with the repair strip lip mating up to the outer wheel house lip, then they just slathered mud on from the outside and that's the squish through we see on this side.

Looks like your car is getting done right, wow amazing work on the quarter skins, I can't see the weld seam in the pre-prime pics.
