I am having starting problems on my runner. I was driving it and when I got home it would not turnover like the batt was dead. I have changed the start relay and have had the bulkhead connector apart but it still will not turnover when I turn the key.

I think the yellow wire on I on the relay is going to T on the bulkhead connector. Is this correct or am I missing something. The only other thing I did was put a mini starter on it. I think those are a plug and play item and don't require anything else to do. My runner is a 383 4 spd.

You are correct about the yellow wire. Terminal "I" on the starter relay to bulkhead plug 3, terminal "T" to ignition switch terminal "S". When you try to start the car, can you tell if the starter relay is clicking? OR, is it clicking but the starter doesn't turn over?

Will it turn over when you jump across the relay under the hood?

Can't tell if the relay is clicking but I don't think it is. I can jump the starter and the car will start. It's as if the batt is dead or unhooked. I turn the key and nothing at all.

The only other thing I did was put a mini starter on. My runner is a 383 4 spd. I seem to have voltage at the ign switch. I notice the ign switch does not have a ground terminal in the plug that goes on the switch. Is that normal.

Do you have any power at all to the dash? Lights/radio/heater all work?
Is it a rallye dash?

If it is a rallye dash, disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and slide underneath the dash to get a look/feel of the terminals of the ammeter gauge. My guess is the battery terminal mounting nut at the gauge is loose. Happened to me and was a PITA to troubleshoot. Remove both wires then loctite the mounting nuts, replace wires and retaining nuts.
Good to go.

I have power at the dash. Have power at the ignition switch also.

Do you install the correct relay? The one for the 4-speed is grounded. If you use the automatic relay, needs a ground from the NSS which the 4 speed doesn't have, so no start.

I had the same problem and it was the ignition switch; humidity got to the switch. Put in a new switch and all is well.

I am having same problem was running fine .went to start and it clicked a couple of times then nothing .I replaced ignition switch and starter relay .This happened after I replaced the master cylinder . Have found no loose wires yet . Starter is good it will start when I jump the relay
