69 runner vin

It's a little more tricky as VIN swaps are much easier on 68 and before. You could turn an RH21 into an RM21 pretty easy just by pulling the VIN plate from a salvage car and adding RR trim. The VIN tag plant code would have to match the plant code on body stampings.

thanks I was pretty sure on that too. I just got back into all this after a long hiatus. Some things are still a little fuzzy. The prices have really sky rocketed since I got out of it.

69Coronetrt Check out this FenderTag

69Coronetrt..Check out this Fender Tag and let me know what you think....Is this the worst fake Fender Tag you have ever seen..Or was the Fender Tag guy doing Whiskey shots and smoking a Joint that day..70RR..Rick :eusa_think:

It is on Ebay now being sold by Classic Car Liquidators

Sounds like a VIN swap, not a clone. Even a clone would have the R*21 body style code.

find another car and let somone have this headache.

What are you seeing that makes you think it is a fake tag?

Fender tag education

Every Fender Tag I have ever looked at is alinged perfectly...Most info that I can find on tags have .026 or what ever size so spacing and all measurments are precise or so it says ......Every thing is SO exact or damn close to it...That is why I was asking you...It is all over the place..Nothing lines up...You seem to me to be more of the expert than me... .I have seen a few Tags in my day, but never so messy...The punch and other marks looked real but, again it is all over the place...I was 50/50 in my mind... That is why I thought maybe Fender Tag guy was not doing so well that day..Are you saying coming across this type of Tag is Typical ?...Again, I do not know that is why I am asking you. I just want to be educated as much as I can and from my past questions to you know what your talking about...Student asking Teacher !! Rick :eusa_think:

Trust me, I'm FAR from an expert. Every new tag I see teaches me something different about how things were done. It's an ongoing process that requires a LOT of research and discussion with other people.

It's not the most clear picture but from what I can tell, it looks legitmate. While not common, you do run across mis aligned rows on occasion.

And no, I have seen some REALLY BAD fake tags. This one wouldn't even come close.

any body remember a few months back that one on Ebay that was an RM21 car that the guy removed the post because he didnt like pop out windows. Why would somebody do that to a post car? if he didnt like pop out windows or the post he should have found a RM23 instead of ruining that car.any way after listing it about 3 times some body finally bought it.JMTC.

Where about's on the radiator support is the vin stamp? mine engine bay was painted black. Before i acquired it and i don't know where about's to look.

I don't want to sound stupid but I just purchased a 69 bee, it does have the fender tag but where is the number on the trunk rail? The rubber is in good shape so I don't want to pull it all off.

My 69 STL built car is here. Different plants put it either on the back of the support or on the top. Either way, it should be about in this location.

This would be from the inside of the engine compartment looking out over the grille.

my 69 st louis cars and 70 st louis cars are stamped in the exact same spot on the face of the upper core support but my lynch road car is on the top

Yep. Different plants used different specific locations. There are lots of variations in the Mopar world.

I am bringing my old thread back to life, here's the new question. I just came back from looking at a 68 rr. fender tag and rad support match. number in gutter rail does not. however, the number on the pass side of the gutter is the one digit off of pass side. for ex.
driver side is 1111111 pass is 1111112 is that normal?

It could be, I found the numbers on the trunk sides did not match nor make sense to the fender tag but the rad support is good so maybe mine has had a 1/4 replaced?? same there?

I would be more concerned with the vin, fender tags matching at least then you know you have the original car, everything else may have been changed but main car is good.

Are you looking at the SO number or a part number?

Are you looking at the SO number or a part number?

i'm thinking it is a part number but there is no other number stamped there. So I'm not really sure what it is. Hoping its a part number

so you're saying the numbers in the gutter don't match rad support?

On mine yes that is what I am saying, also saying it could be because the car was hit and the body shop replaced them, that is a possible explanation to why the trunk rail numbers do not match the vin sequence numbers. My car looks like it had an side swipe some time in the 80's which would explain why a direct fit replacement with numbers would be on it you could still get them from the junk yards or dealers?

sequential part numbers for L/R applications are common. part numbers are seven digits. SO's contain letters and six numbers.

I get what you're saying. the trunk numbers on the rail look to be sequential on this car which would mean that the whole back end was replaced with factory parts. also there is a part number on the lower part of the gutter so I don't think it was hit or replaced. I'm just concerned somebody swapped the fender tag and rad support from another vehicle.
