69 runner vin

sequential part numbers for L/R applications are common. part numbers are seven digits. SO's contain letters and six numbers.

so if that is a part number then why are there no other numbers that would match fender tag or rad support?

Very informative thread that solved my mystery.

I have a '69 RR that is painted Vit C Orange over R4 Red. The Fender Tag says original color is R4 Red, but the frame rails and lots of other places have B5 Blue as a base coat. Total confusion.

Well, I checked the Radiator Support and Trunk Rail which have matching numbers, but which are different than the VIN tag and the Fender Tag. Obviously there has been a VIN swap...Damnit!

I know the last owner was not adept enough to do this, so I guess it was done many years ago. I knew it was a Frankenstein with the wrong engine (440), wrong Trans (4spd not AT) and wrong rearend (4.10 Dana not 8-3/4), but certainly not this much of one. Who knows what the hell I own now! At least the paint looks good.

That explains why everything is so difficult on this car.

Next one will be a correct car!! No more POS for me!

Oh well, live and learn.

sorry to hear that that sucks

moparstuart i sent you a pm did you get it?

thats weird my rr is a lynch rd car & it's on the face!!!
my 69 st louis cars and 70 st louis cars are stamped in the exact same spot on the face of the upper core support but my lynch road car is on the top

so 69Coronetrt based on what we talked about before would the car I told you about be considered a legit rr

If it was a real RR to start with, why put another RR VIN on the body? If it wasn't built as a RR and is one now only is because of something illegal, then it's hard to call it a RR.

i'm goin back to look at it again monday. Is it possible that the stampings are in another location on the lip. like under the rear window, if the only thing i found were part numbers
isn't that odd?

You own what your body numbers say you own. That sucks though.

Me, my car was clearly hit at one point and had its driverside fender replaced - including the fender tag. So i have a belvedere VIN and a Satellite fender tag. I'm guessing the body numbers match the VIN though, or some dim witted criminal faked a Belvedere lol.

"i'm goin back to look at it again monday."

So did you? What was the verdict?

Our schedules didn't match up so probably next week if it hasn't sold by then. I got some info on another 68 rr in the meantime and this one has ac. Anybody have any idea how rare of an option that is?

Here is my update. I went back but still couldn't find matching numbers anywhere in the gutter. Owner gave me some bs story and then decided car is no longer for sale.

Better off without it. I'd never have made the trip to see it agian.

Back from the dead.... I have a 69 roadrunner that my Dad bought new, so I've never had to verify its identity. However, I recently purchased a Petty clone vintage stockcar that is either a 69 Road Runner or Satellite(it looks like a RR). The problem I'm having is that there is no factory dash pad, core support or fender tag-nor a title. Not a big deal as its a race car-I'm just curious as to what I have. The trunk number is(near as I can tell) is G9289473. Any help would be most appreciated. I will also look on the upper firewall(as thats original) but, before I start scraping paint, can someone give me a good idead where to look? thanks.

Still looking for assistance with locating a complete vin of my race car. Its obvious that the trunk vin shows that it is a 69 and was built in St Louis and it has the complete sequential number. Most of the rear part of the body is original as is the firewall. I found numbers on my Bahama 69 Road Runner near the speaker and plan to remove a riveted on plate on the race car and expect to find numbers there too-there are not enough to have a complete vin though. Is there anyplace else on a 69 that would have a complete vin other than the dash and core support. As stated earlier, the dash was replaced with an aluminum custom piece and the core support was also removed to allow for the front part of cage and a stronger, custom set-up. Frame numbers somewhere? Thanks
