69 Super Bee restoration

Quarter is off. I think I know why the previous owner parked the Bee. He spent all of his money on bondo and had none left for gas!!!

Am I missing something here? Is this lip supposed to be sticking out on the back of the trunk extension piece at the tail light panel?

New metal tacked in and trunk floor clamped to a new wheel tub for the first time in who knows how long!!!!

you're doing an awesome job on your Bee.
Thanks Basket case!!! I was nervous and watched a ton of videos before starting to cut the quarters off. Finally I went for it. Now it’s patchwork replacing the metal. It crazy how much more rigid the rear end is with all its metal back.

You are doing a great job. Lot of rust to patch and replace but you have a handle on it. Are you getting full replacement quarters? Test fit everything together before welding. I used a bunch of self tapping screws to connect panels and test fit the parts. Also a good idea to re-install the trunk lid before welding the back end together.

Thank you three wood!! I do have full new quarters as well as trunk floor, drop downs, tail panel. I bought a Cleco kids to use to hold everything together as well as self tapping screws. I also thought about just putting one or two tack Welton to hold stuff. Should I wait to completely weld in the wheel tubs also?

Jumping ahead answering someone's else's question. But yes. No welding nothing till it has been all screwed together and totally dry fitted. Truck lid back on,quarter extensions and tail lights too.

Hey guys I need some advice. I’m trying to remove the upper lip of the outer wheel tub. It’s hard to get to being behind these panels so I was thinking about cutting along the black line to remove them, clean up and remove what’s left of the outer wheel tub lip and then tack them back into place. Any advice or opinions on this?

Well, I went for it. I cut away those pieces of the roof support to get behind them. I cleaned up and treated more rust. I cut the outer wheel tub to fit and have it clamped in place. I know AMD has the best quality reproduction metal but the alignment holes on the wheel tub don’t line up. I know there’s always some adjustment to make with the panels.

There’s a small section of the rear outer Rocker that needs to be replaced where it meets the front lower edge of the wheel tub.

just to clarify, I should Cleco this wheel tub in and dry fit the quarter panel before any final welding on the wheel tub correct? Do I need to dry fit everything on the rear end before welding wheel tub?

yup....way easier to make adjustments with everything set in place with screws that after it's welded in place. looking great!
