70 Bee with or without Go Wing???

I never liked how they looked on a square back B body so I wouldn't do it unless it came that way.

Without it... I never liked scoops scallops, spoiler etc on cars, (Like a 70' GT500 Shelby, 5 scoops one hood, 2 on the sides, 2 on the quarters/roof) but one of my favorite cars of all time are the winged warriors, I know strange.

Regardless, of how people feel about the wings. I think people need to take into serious consideration that all of these trunk lids are rare as hen’s teeth. Especially, in good unmolested condition.
One day we might consider selling our car. Despite, thinking we will own it forever. We all know **** happens in life. Emergencies, life changes or we might decide on something else. Most potential buyers know the rarity of these cars and certain parts. Why risk the value of your car by hacking up a rare part that doesn’t need to be altered ? It’s honest leverage that you are freely handing over to a potential buyer one day. That may not like it or use it as leverage period. This will allow people leverage into not giving you nearly what the car is worth or potentially scaring buyers off completely. It’s not worth it to me, even if you like them. If it was 1972, have at it. No big deal. You can find another one.

You asked for opinions. The little go wings look horrible on B bodies. The wing size doesn’t match B body style or size. Trunk spoilers, look cool on B bodies that are rectangular in shape. It looks like someone bought these other wings from Walmart, in the year 2020. Threw it on a 50 year old car. With 50 year old styling. The square shapes of B bodies are attractive. That’s what makes them appealing to people, today.
But, my opinion. Your car.

that's an apples to oranges comparison and really no comparison at all. if he likes the go wing , then do it. if not, then don't.

When they became available in mid 1970,some buyers checked the box for the go wing, some didn't, it's a matter of preference, I prefer them on a 70 and up car but I would not put one on a 69 and older car.

My 69 RR came to me with it. It was added by my father. Although I appreciate his specific taste for all the little things he did, wing included, I’m a less is more guy. I removed the red reflective stripes and will be removing the red stripes off the hood entirely as well as swapping the interior for the black. Wind is going to fly away also.
Wish I had the HP 383 he swapped also. On to making this dependable. I attached pics of the wing for you.

I have since had second thoughts about this addition and would like some feedback, photos, opinions or threats to help me sway one way or another? The car is FJ6 Green Go with a Ledger Green reverse C Stripe and white interior . I hate to desecrate a perfectly good deck lid while installing a Go Wing only to find out later that I hate it? If I only had a spare deck lid...

All about personal taste and I would say your father had excellent taste; I really like that interior. The color contrasts are striking and well done. Obviously its your car and you can do what you like, but your father obviously understood that in stock form it was just another one of the many 69 RR out there, what he did was create a very unique "1 of 1" car; personally if it were me, I would leave it alone.

Hey Spauldo, good to hear from you...a while ago you sold me some 70 Bee hood pieces. Like many out here, do as you please. My opinion is that unloess you are totally resto-modding it and making it a trans-am car (with other ground/aero pieces) and the wing will actually "do" something (maybe), I'd go stock/no-wing. The car looks cool as originally designed (nose included! and yes, I guess I am biased!!).

Props to you for your decision to remove the wing.

How do I say this in a nice way? Your dad had a vision and his own personal touch on that 69 but the wing needs to go. I hope he supports your plans on the RR.

Hi, i saw the thread in my email and thought i’d jump in. New guy at this.
Find/borrow a ‘70 wing and just set it on the deck lid and have a look.
I have a 70 in top banana with a black c stripe with a wing. I don't care for the rough factory finish but i think it looks alright in that color. Maybe not green... i had no choice as it was on the car.
I also lucky enough have a hemi orange 6 pack with the black bumble stripe and no wing. I wouldn't consider a wing without the c stripe though.

Generally, that's not an item that's readily available around one's neighborhood.

If for any reason I bought a '70 B Body (or any 68-70 B Body) and it had a Go/Gull/home made wing on it, I would literally cut it off from the pedestals right there in front of the newly previous owner before taking the car off his/her property using a cordless sawzall. Then throw in their trash can. Then remove the remaining fragments of the pedestals when I got it home. And of course I would need a new trunk lid in which would be funded by the negotiated selling price from the seller with having the lid being ruined.

If u make it "period correct" and throw some air shocks and slots with fat Mickeys on the back I thought they looked cool as it gets back in the day.

GO-WING makes a beautiful car look cheap. DON'T do it...IMO
