All, I am having trouble with my rear driver window. i adjusted everything on the stops and it will open and close no problem using the switch in the backseat, but using the master on the driver door, it will only come up a few inches and then stops. also, for some reason, the switch direction is opposite the other three.

Does this signal I just need to rebuild the master switch or is it a ground/relay issue?

Thanks, J

I would check the wiring at the master. Wires might not be in the right cavity. With all the rest working correctly there is no relay or ground causing the issue.

would it be the contacts within the button itself? ill check all connections and make its all there. but it has to get some juice to that wire. maybe the backwards wiring really makes the difference.

thanks, J

@devinism can rebuild your switch, if that turns out to be the problem. If the wiring at the master switch is like my 68 Coronet, it only clips on one way.

Right. But if the wires are incorrectly located in the connector that could be a problem.

I agree with that but changing the wires around didn't look to be an easy task, but 50 plus years later and how many hands have messed with this is unknown.

Just seems odd that the up/down function is reversed on that switch and the rear switch it is correct. I would at least get the diagram and make sure the wires are in the right spots.

I got my old dusty power window switches working by soaking them in evaporust for a few days and cycling the switches when submerged a bunch of times. Then rinsed them in isopropyl alcohol and blew them out with compressed air. This cleans the contacts without disassembly. Works great as long as the switch paddles are tight. And not flopping around. Just a suggestion that might help others. And another thing I discovered. Along the power window harness drivers side next to the seat is a yellow to yellow wire with a plug.. a switch can be added, that will lock out all the windows except for the drivers window. I guess so only the driver can operate the windows for safety . Or to prevent someone that keeps playing with the window..

I would look for something in the harness that looks spliced / repaired.

Moving the window just a little tells me the switch either has burned contacts for that window, or corrosion somewhere between the master switch and the inop window.

That still won't cause a reversal.

I don't know about power window switches but many OE mopar switches are easy to rebuild.
Most are held together with metal tabs.
Once the switch is apart burnish the contacts, reassemble and lube with dialeectric grease

Just my $0.02...
