Wow! Really nice work!! I have a question, if I may....

I see that you had different colours on your dash pad pieces. Were they painted or dyed black? I wonder because I have green pieces that appear to have been spray-painted black, which is, of course, now peeling and looking like hell.

I hope that one day, mine will look as nice as yours. You should be proud.

Lighthorseman, thanks for the compliments! Yes, I'm very happy the way it all came out. This was all done from May to November of this year, and with a full-time job, house, gal, and kids to take care of, it would've normally taken me another 6 months or so to do it all, but I kept reading the other member's resto threads along with the way to keep me going on it!

As for the lower dash trim pieces, and the interior windshield pillar pieces, they were all painted and not dyed. I used a plastic primer, then some satin black on top, and light coating of SEM Trim Black on top of it all. This same paint, except for the primer difference, was also used on top of the dash frame, too.

Hope that helps.

i have to say that i am extremely envious of you guys that can do body work like that. i also am a stickler for details but i doubt id ever have the KAHOONAS to rip a car apart like i see so many of you do on here.....congrats and kudos to those of you that can....you all should be commended!

Thanks tpodwdog, but I'm not a skilled body/paint guy, nor have I ever had any schooling in automotive mechanics, but I know how to read the factory service manuals, work slowly, and find forums like this!

gauges

Who redid your gauge cluster???

hi fish dude...a few things on your resto. OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE ...(applause). i noticed you have the "reverse" on dash light with an automatic trans. and HOW did you detail the silver around the dash gauges. and theres a white wire going into the tach on the left side.....whats this for because mine is missing on my 70 RR.

Thanks for the + comments. The "reverse" light you're referring to is actually a seat belt light. My car was coded for deluxe seat belts, and I assume the light was some sort of warning to "get those freaking belts on!".

The white wire is from a reproduction tach, and is the power wire for the clock.

RRDOUG, you can reach him at gsdd @ ameritech.net and remove the spaces.

Congrats to a nice car and a great work, projects like this is great to read about.

Sure turned out beautiful, Thats no shabby looking 68 Charger R/T in front of it either!

Thanks all to the recent thumb's on my project, and while it was time consuming, it's really pretty small compared to some of the top shelf resto work others have posted here! I have to give a big thanks to this killer site in helping me figure out how to do some of it. :VB toast:

Just read your whole thread and that is some amazing work. Some of the things you have done, I am in the process of doing the same thing. If my car turns out as good as yours did, i'll be a happy camper.
