70 RR Restomod

Alright folks, I just became a member of this forum and promised some pics. So here ya go!!! This car was originally copper from ma Mopar, but when I picked it up circa 1992 it had been done black! While that was a pretty tough color I was lookin to do something to bring it back to copper, but wanted to update it and decided to go with the color of the 05 SRT-4's...... I know its not for everyone, but hey, thats the great thing about restomods!!! This will definately not be any sort of trailer queen as I love to race! Some of the pics may be a little out of order, but figured I'd get them up here anyway in case anybody's interested There are quite a few, so this might take a bit!

Thanks! And yeah, I have been lucky with it for the most part...... I have had it though for almost 20 years and kept it stored for most of that time since being in the Navy. Military career is getting close to being over so now its time to get back to this project!! I got most of the drive train done a few weeks ago so I'll get some pics of that up here soon as well!!

nice job, I,m dealing with the same issues as you are. When you repaired the lower rear 1/4s, did you flange your repair panel or butt weld? Also on the rear window corners, did you buy them from AMD or did you fabricate them?

Here are a few pics of the Engine/Rearend.....

383 .030 overbore, forged original crank, Speed pro forged flat top pistons and an MP 509 cam, Holley Street Dominator and a rebuilt 650 DP (might be going up to a 750. The car is originally a 4 speed, but since I do not have one for it the 727 I have was rebuilt and I put in a Transgo TF-2 shift kit and a Hughes 3500 stall. Still gotta rebuild the 8 3/4. pulled the rearend out, but gotta get some more tools (shop press) to do all the rearend and axle bearings, but have a 4.30 ring/pinion setup ready to go! Not sure what she'll run, hoping for low 12's but it sure is fun so far and I guess we'll see!!! Nitrous is always an option I suppose, but sometimes its like a really hot chick with an STD! "Would love to hit it, but a little affraid of the consequences!" LOL!!

I wish I could take credit for the body work on this thing! However, I had it done through a local shop in Coupeville WA. I do know that they Flanged the repair panels, and being a (very) amateur welder myseld understand how much easier that was for them than trying to do in the panels through butt welds..... I also know that they had to fabricate the lower rear window corners, but after having seen the AMD ones, I almost wish I would have went that way as everyone on here says their sheetmetal is pretty dead on! Probably would have saved me a good bit of money in labor! LOL!

I agree on the coupe's! I like the Hard Tops, But there is somethin about the post cars..... Dont see nearly as many!! Once this project is back fully on the road I got my eye on a 67 Coronet wagon.
