Hi everyone! I've got a 71 318 been sitting for 20 years (details/pics on my account). I got a rebuild kit for the carter 2bbd (2168), however, i have little carb knowledge and now realize I probably can't do this correctly. Does anyone reccomend a cheapie replacement? I plan to rebuild it all and swap a 4 barrel on in the future, just need one to get it running rn. I see plenty on ebay, but there are so many different versions I want to make sure I get a matching one. Before anyone reccomends still rebuilding it, the cost of replacing everything bad would prob be just as much if not more than getting a new cheapie. Thanks!!

You can rebuild it, watch some videos and take you time. If you still dont want to do it find someone local to rebuild it. . I bought one on EBay for my 70 and it was not even close to my original,to many vac lines. They say it will fit but that doesnt mean its correct for your car.

Yeah I think I'm out of luck for finding a good replacement. Gonna try and see what I can do with some help. Thanks!

I don’t know what the forum rules are for this but send me your carb and your kit. I’ll rebuild it for you for $50 plus shipping. The only other parts you need is a float and a choke pull off. I have been a professional automotive technician since 1975 I’ve rebuilt 100’s of carbs and been a licensed smog inspection and repair technician since 1980 (it’s a California thing) so I also know now how to make them run right
