71 B body exhaust tip length?

Getting ready to put a new exhaust system on my 71 GTX and I have a new set of stainless “machine gun” type tips to go back on it. Is there a measurement for how much the tip should come out beyond the valance panel notches on 71 B bodies? I have the longer style tips on there now and purchased the same ones. Here’s a picture of how they are now. I’m thinking they are sticking out just a little too far?

71/2 Plymouth take the short tips.
71/2 Charger take the long ones.

The machine gun slots should be about centered on the valance cut out. Sorry - dont have a measurement.

On mine, the hangers place the tips right where they need to be.

A good question as it looks crummy to have the tips sticking out too far. #41 sounds right.

Yep the originals have the hanger brackets.
