My car wouldn't start so after replacing both my starter and relay solenoid, I moved on to replacing my ignition switch. I've done some research on the subject before coming here and I'll probably end up rebuilding and re-greasing the whole column since I've pretty much taken the whole thing apart at this point anyway. However, I've gotten stuck on removing the the column at the coupler, which is why I turned here for advice. Like I said, I've done my research and for what it's worth I know that there should be a roll pin somewhere that I need to punch out to detach the whole thing. Problem is I don't exactly know where that is. Coupler[1].jpg
Looking at that picture you see it should be on the coupler body, but it isn't. Mind you, there is a hole there, but I see no pin in mine. So, if someone should kindly guide me in the right direction as where to go from here I would greatly appreciate it.

Yes there is a roll pin that goes in the hole but if you don't see it then it is probably missing. Pretty easy to see as it fills up the hole. Take a pry bar and see if you can pry the coupler off of the steering box shaft.

Some roll pins are hollow, so get a punch that just fits in hole and drive out the pin.

Yes, it would probably have to be hollow. Whenever I pull on the column it is loose at the steering shaft and the coupling seems to move and twist like it should with a pin in it. Plus, I'm not sure I could have been driving it without incident without a roll pin lol. There does seem to be a little metal piece in the hole but it looks like a piece of the coupling. Gonna be a bitch to get out if it is the pin.
