Planted the original numbers engine and transmission today. Bought the car November of 13 with a non original 440 six pack. The previous owner gave me the phone number of a guy he thought may have the original block. After finding the block and having it rebuilt along with the transmission, today it went back in. Ill be putting the AVS back on.

Must be a great feeling to have tracked down it's original engine, well done!

I've not seen exh manifolds painted engine color before. What kind of coating is that?

yes, I got lucky. The car did have the original 727, but someone supposedly installed a manual valve body in it. I never tried it to find out, it was pulled and rebuilt right away. I asked the guy with the original block, what happened, and why he pulled the original out, and he explained that he had a rebuilt 440 to install and the numbers block didn't mean anything to him. what!!!!! He also swapped out the hidden headlamps for the standard grille. I spent most of the winter, and crazy money finding the correct parts to replace those. The paint on the manifolds is just mopar engine paint, and it will burn off at start up. I did coat the engine with Eastwood high temp clear, so we'll see how that holds up.

Nice car Is this the one that you were having trouble with the headlight doors on. Did you get them working correctly

Yes, this is the car that had the doors removed for a standard grille. I did get the doors working correctly. I did bite the bullet and bought an NOS motor, I just couldn't get the used motors to act right. The NOS motor was a risk and very expensive, but it works perfect.
