Out of Commision for a While

Hey Mark, thanks for the kind words. Some of you have heard, but I was injured on the job a few days ago, so for a while (possibly mid June). I will not be able to work on any of my projects.

We are in the middle of bike week here, and it gets a little crazy some times. Without going into too much details about it, we responded to a vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and two vehicles. The bike was pinned in between a truck and a car, with the rider still on the bike.

During the process of extricating the biker, I tore my rotator cuff, pretty badly. I'm headed to Orlando on Monday to see a surgeon.

It sucks, but I will get through it. Because of this, I won't be posting much here for a while.

My typing skills suck using only my left hand. And it's not very comfortable for me to be sitting in front of a computer.

I agree with tallhair Louis, you truly are a man to look up to after seeing the work and commitment you have for anything you start and everything you did to help others and now, well i just hope you get a little break and some rest, Get better fast buddy, you'll be missed even among those of us who watch lurking in the shadows! 71 AG, I know exactly how you are feeling. I tore my rotator cuff in april 2012, had surgery oct 2012, returned to work april 2013. When you finally start your physical therapy, don't try to push anything faster than what the therapist says to do. I had to sleep in a recliner for the first 2-3 weeks after the operation. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Hey 71airgrabber RR-sorry to hear abou t your misfortune, get well soon. If I lived closer to you, I'd offer my labor for free to help out on the car. All you would gave to do is sit on the sidelines and supervise. And offer an occasional beer or two

Good news and not so good news.....

Thanks everyone for the kind words and prayers. That really means a lot to me.

Yesterday the misses took me to Orlando and I had an evaluation by the shoulder specialist. He told me that he is 99% sure that I have a severe rotator cuff tear in my right shoulder. He also said that I have torn left shoulder too, but doesn't think it is quite as bad as the other one is.

He is waiting for a MRI to be completed before he can say 100% for sure. It looks like I will be having surgery on both.

A little while ago I ordered some more engine parts for the Satellite from 440 source. They arrived today but when my wife opened the box, the mini starter had broken out of the box and damaged the composite white head gaskets.

Luckily everything else inside was OK.

I made a call to their customer service and they are shipping me a new set of head gaskets free of charge with no questions asked.

That my friends made my day.......along with your thoughts and prayers.

I thought it was great that they didn't run me through the mill with the damaged parts. They stepped right up.

Hey Louis, so did the doctor say low long this is going to take before you can start crawling around doing repairs again? I guess your off work for a while. We just got back to Daytona tonight. I have almost had enough vacation. Take care my friend and best of luck on the body repairs.

I'm glad we helped you out brother. Keep the chin up and keep hanging in there. Maybe you can hire some work out with some youngster who would appreciate learning from a master craftsman ... you tell him what to do and supervise while you're mending.

Also glad they took care of you on the parts .. only right as it seems like you've been a very good customer not that they shouldn't do that for everyone mind ya

Are they going to do both shoulders at the same time. I hope not, otherwise the wife will have to help you do EVERYTHING you need to do. If I lived closer i'd be knocking on your door every morning to ask what needs to be done next on your car. Hope the doctor's can get you back in tip-top shape with as little vacation time as possible.

They scheduled my MRI on next Wednesday. I hope they fix one shoulder and give me a few weeks in between the surgeries. I don't like being dependent of people to do things for me, even though I know right now I don't have much choice. It just doesn't seem normal to me. I've never had anyone wait on me hand and foot, so this is a big adjustment for the misses and I. I have to commend her, she has been hanging right in there.

It is very painful. The worst of it is not getting sleep. I roll over on either side and it wakes me up.

Really sorry to hear about your injuries airgrabber. Never fun to be injured and out of action but personally I find the psychological (not able to do projects) the hardest part.

Will be praying for ya and the little wife.
