71 seatbelt resto

Hey guys, I was looking online for some black seat belts for my 71 satellite, but then looked around and had some dupli-color vinyl & fabric rattle cans laying around from last year, so I thought I'd give it a try....I did a bunch of my interior with this product last year with great results. Worked out GREAT!!..check it out. The belts were light blue, ugly, stains...etc. After paint they are still very pliable, and dried in about 5 mins. I took the buckle covers off to paint. Hit them with the same paint. I highly recommend this process!!

I was wondering the same thing and thought maybe the dye wouldn't absorb into the nylon. They look great.

Man, I was hoping someone would do this first haha. I have been converting my teal interior to a black/grey theme and all I have left are the seat belts. That looks really good, so I'm definitely going to give it a try....$4 a can sure beats $300 for new belts!!

They may look good but I wouldn't use them. First off, they are old to begin with which makes them weak, but to spray paint with solvents and who knows what will most likely make them so weak that they will likely break in an accident. Seat belt companies warn against using any type of solvents on the webbing. I'm not trying to be a smarta$$, and I enjoy saving money as much as the next guy, but I don't think this is where to save it. 2C

Same here, did the door panels and seats and they turned out great. Put 2 coats of Simply Spray fabric "dye" on the seats first, then 2 coats of the DupliColor. Being that it dries kind of crunchy/rough, I applied one more coat of the Simply Spray and rubbed it in with my hand...turned out a lot softer, and after a quick vacuum, even softer.

Don't wear light colored clothing and buckle up with those belts, cause your clothes will now have that same black fabric paint on em. Been there, done that. That's one of the reasons I started making seat belts.
