What's it Worth '71 Charger

The '71 Charger shown above is a nice looking car, and I would love to have it, butt....

Check out what happened to this guy and his Corvette after he bought it from a dealer with the wrong rivets on the VIN tag:

I think the car is going to be a hard sell. The VIN issue is going to scare away most buyers. Tabulate the sum of the parts and that is the number.
Completely agree. It's a tough sell but seems like a really decent car. IMO it would have been better off with the Charger VIN and "cloning" to an R/T. Cause then all paperwork is legit as the car it shows to be now is a serious collector car while the car it now is really isn't. My opinion would be 18-20k with the paperwork issues. Good luck with the sale and nice to see you being upfront with the issues...

Thanks for all the replies and advice ! I will see how it goes at the next couple of car shows.

I appreciate the feedback, especially since this car has “its issue”.

Thanks

It's illegal to "tag a car". It's worth nothing. Sorry. Keep it and enjoy it and keep your mouth shut.

Back in the 80s we would take quarters and dash pads off at the junkyard with the vin numbers on it. Slap them on our cars. Replaced it with our vin and no one cared. Its what was available. How much of the body can be replaced before it is considered tagged?

I had a friend who had so much trouble registering his Challenger, he vowed to never step foot in the registry of motor vehicles again. He used to swap the e body dashpad from one Challenger to the next, never caring what numbers went with what car. For thirty years his original Challengers registration was on over a dozen different Challengers.

To answer a previous question that I missed. The car is inspected until the end of October. The parking brake cable broke in the spring. I have the complete new assembly, and will be installing it today. Then it is off to get it inspected. It would not have passed inspection without it. I had hoped to sell, which is why I put off the job.
