Need help...........please. 72 RR about to leave paint and body shop. Ordered the decals and delivered to paint shop. Unfortunately the decals did not come with specific placement info. Need help with strobe stripe placement as well as the quarter panel and trunk lid roadrunner decals.

Circle bird trunk decal, standard Road Runner, 1” up from the lower edge and 1” in from the passenger side edge.

A lot of people place the strobe too far back and, to me, that doesn't even come close to looking right. They should be as close to centered over the rear wheels as possible. To do that you have to run them close to the quarter glass. I laid mine out and marked the perimeter with masking tape so it'd be easy to line back up like I wanted it. The pic is of my car.

I measured the sides to be right at 1.5 inches behind the center of the quarter glass and that's the placement I went with for the strobe. Basically, I got the sides where I wanted them over the rear wheels, then made sure the top (center) section lined up appropriately between them, and brought the side strobes up so the gaps between the stripes looked flawless. Marked the perimeter and then I applied the top (center) section first, squee-gee'd it out flat, and then applied the sides.

But if you move that stripe back, it starts looking funky quick. I'd say even mine could have been brought a bit more forward.

Just something to keep in mind.

Great info......thanks!

I know I'm a little late to the party, but is there any way you're able to re-post or send me the full size photo of the factory spec sheet for decal specification and locations, if possible?

Greatly appreciated!

Try this, the original scan is limited in detail. All the '71-72 engineering diagrams have since been published in book form. Well worth it to have a copy.

Thanks for the advice and links! Currently in the "research and plan" stage and am trying to collect and absorb as much information as I can before diving headlong into a full resto.
