I have a problem with the car jumping into neutral. I have checked the fluid level and it is fine no leaks. I have a extra deep pan on this transmission.

Any ideas on what is the problem internally?

The transmission is attached to a 340 motor.

I think the transmission is a 727 though.

when does it do it? and do you have to manually shift the trans back into drive?

stock unit recent rebuild?

I do not have to shift it back into drive.

I put the transmission Back into the car after it had sat for about 10 years in the garage.

My dad had thought he had blown a cylinder wall when he just blew a head gasket.
He did not have the money to fix the blown cylinder since he was sending me to school at the time. So he put it in the garage with the other toys.

It does it when I am driving on the highway I notice it when I am slowing down it seams to slip into either nuetral or a low gear.

does it slip in reverse?
I dont see an easy fix nothing short of pulling the unit and doing an overhaul
most likely the seals dried up in front drum or the center seal in that drum rolled

No slip in reverse has happened to me yet.

in reverse line pressure is boosted so it makes sense coming off the accelerator at highway speeds the line pressure will fall
in 3rd gear the front and rear clutches are applied
if the rear clutches( input) were slipping it would slip in all gears
