Can some one tell me if you can build a 65 727 push button tranny that can handle 800 horse power for around five to six hundred? Been talking to a guy who has built trannies for 20 + years and he says he can do it.any thoughts on this would be much appreciated.

800hp is a bunch, the Torque is sometime the biggest factor though... I guess if you can fab some of your own parts you could, the converter would be most of all that money dosen't leave much for the trans, even if that dosent include the converter unless the guy make or fab's his own stuff, drums, bands, clutch materials & metals, bolt in sprag/overrunning clutch, manual valve body or trans brake, hardens input & output shafts, hardened front pump gears, hardened or better planitary gears, servos or eliminators, saftey shied or bell housing, deep cast aluminum pan & filter extension, misc hardware & gaskets it would be near impossible at least in my mind, unless the guy machined his own pieces & just bought the hardware, gaskets, o-rings, clutches & bands.... It's just my opinion some of those parts are that much money for a single part sometimes, you can check out some of the guys I've used in the past, Coan Racing Transmissions, Cope Transmissions, A & A Transmissions, Grinner Engineering, Turbo Action, Hughes Transmissions, B&M Racing Transmissions, TCI Racing Transmissions, Mikes Transmissions, Mancini Racing, Campbell Enterprises & Phoenix Transmissions amongst many others out there I sure...

as stated above, for that many ponies your converter will be that much.

that's with out the converter! I didn't think so either.but a really good engine builder in this area referred him.said he builds a lot of racing trannys.it just don't seem possible.but I don't know anything about trannys. thanks for the info!

a billet steel or aluminum drum is $550.00 alone. do you need it no. but do you like your legs?
super sprag $175.00
i had a trans done with just rollerized planetaries and it was $1200.00
my trans, in my 850 hp hemi was $2500.00.
the one in my 65 black dodge was $6500.00
my pushbutton trans. in my 63 plymouth was $1750.00
i want to do it once and forget about it for awhile.
