Guys, found the build sheet in my 73 car, but not sure if it is the correct one as the cars vin number is not on the sheet...should it be. But does seem to match exterior color . Ok, question is what do I have, engine code, 63, is that a 400?, trans, 34, is that a 4 speed, and axle is 51, is that an 8 3/4? And then under AXLE it lists 980, would that be a ratio number...thanks much..

Thanks RT. I now think this is not the correct build sheet. Running down fender tag and dash vin numbers my car was a factory 400 with 4 speed . I think those codes showed a 4 barrel 400. Appears a PO somewhere found another car and swapped in a 727 and interior parts to this car. Thus this build sheet under the rear seat. It still has the four speed console and brake/clutch pedal assembly . I think it is a factory rally car but this build sheet does not support that . I am new with these cars and cannot tell a 8 3/4 from a 8 2/5 rear axel.

4OO four speeds are not that common. Good find. Your VIN and data plate will tell you a lot about your car, as you know. A build sheet is nice but a lot of people don't have them.

ahhh haaa, thanks for that post, I do indeed have an 8 3/4 rear. Did not mean to hijack 73 charger thread but got caught up with Nacho trying to determine what color rally stripes are on my black 73. And then we could not find the Rally code on the build sheet....now know why.....not build sheet for my car. He posted pics on how the rear sway bag should mount to rear axle as it looks like there once was one original to the car. I will now check the axle for sway bar plates...unless it too, was changed in the past. Guys here have been great with info sharing..
