73 charger dash cracked

Those "fifty dollar caps" will end up costing at least $125 once you realize that the cheapest on on eBay is $89.99 plus $36 shipping.
I have used two. Better than a horribly cracked dash, but I can tell the difference easily. The grain or lack thereof is very noticeable to me.
Both had fitment issues around the A/C vents and upper speaker panel as well as being too loose on the drivers end.
Not a product that I would recommend or use again.
I would suggest installing the cap with the dash removed and out of the car.
If you have fitment issues around the top speaker panel, it's easy to trim and fit out of the car. Very difficult (if not impossible) to do in the car, with the windshield installed.

I wish I could remember who made mine because it went in fine with the dash and windshield installed. If these ones now need trimming, I'm wondering if someone has been taking older caps and making copies of them by using them as a vacuform mold. This would make them just a bit larger than the originals and that's why they don't fit as well.

The bottom line is if you're out to build a trophy car, you're not going to want to use a cap. If you just want your car to look good, use a cap. Either way, restored or cap, the damn thing is going to start cracking again whether you have an expensive restored pad or a cheap cap, so unless you have money to burn, and don't mind seeing cracks start to form in your restored pad, I would stick with a cap.
