Hello all,
So after doing some work this winter and spring. The car will not start. Ran great before but now it will fire while starter is being engaged but as soon as I let off the key she dies. Ive got power to the coil and from the coil to the distributor while the key is in the RUN position. But it wont maintain spark. Below you will find a list off what was done over the off season and what i have done to try and fix the issue.
Work done:
Rebuild tranny
Headers installed
New front suspension components
Installed a 6 pack hood scoop

What ive done to address the issue.
Set timing back to factory settings
New igniton control module
Ballast resistor
Cleaned and checked bulk head connections
Checked all grounds dealing with igniton and alternator/battery.
Swapped coils, ballast resistor, and icm from strong running 73 satellite with same drivetrain.

Any suggestions or words of wisdom are greatly appreciated.
Next step is pulling the distributor out of the satellite and installing it in the charger

check to see if your Ballast has gone bad, try another Ballast resistor or try jumping it with a wire to see if it starts.

That was my first thought. Bought a new one and nothing changed. Pulled one off the satellite and still nothing

As moes said run a wire from battery to input of ballast resistor and try starting car if it run to stop you'll need to remove wire. That will tell you it's wiring from ballast is the problem. Could be bulkhead connection or ignition switch or bad plug/ broken wire. Check plug on steering column for burned connection.

If you have a multimeter, check to see where it is live and where it isn't. I have a key switch do this to me. I have also had a connection bulkhead or harness do it.

+1 on the connections under dash. I had one that looked fine and the car would not run. I shook it and it would run then stop.

you may want to check the ignition switch, connect a new switch to the existing harness under the steering column. just un plug yours, and plug the new one in it and try it that way. you can turn the switch simulation the key

I see you changed the ignition module but what about the steering column area. It's just a guess I'm not a professional mechanic but I wonder if the switch isn't working properly in the steering column area. When I had this issue with my first 73 charger I changed the ballest resistor and that worked . I see you changed it but did you test it like the manual says to. Sorry your having issue's I hope this helps. Oops some one all ready brought it up.
