74 Charger Rallye 440 TX9

it's just happy to see the light of day, the road trip is a major bonus

After having a hectic weekend last week I was able to get the transmission finished up and adjusted. Next up is the engine. Looking pretty after being bagged for some time. I fitted the cam before cleaning to ensure it was not tight. I have run into this before and have a old cam with groves in the journals, pack them with grease, spin a couple times and it will clean up any imperfections.

That's a great idea on the camshaft.

Since I am still on light duty I did some parts cleaning on the front suspension. I also pressed out the ball joints and pivots. As you can see These were really well preserved under a massive coat of grime!

New tool day! Been waiting on this for a few days so I can burnish the lifter bores properly. OTC 6501 slide hammer. Narrow enough to not interfere with the head surfaces and easily drive the burnishing ball through the lifter bores and easily pull back out.

Wife got me a new welding helmet for Christmas so I tested it out on the lower control arm reinforcements.
