76 Daytona

Thanks for the information on the Imp. disk brake issues. I picked up a 9 1/4 with Imp. disks brakes minus the parking brake hardware. Thought it would be neat, but after your issues and parts finding, I'll be swapping the drums over from the 8 1/4.

I won't ever say don't do it if you've good a pair of disks with life left in them and most of the bracketry. Don't want to get in to the ebrake, use a driveshaft brake? I feel convinced that the sticking issue that I was chasing is the one shoe chipping and the chip getting stuck - then ripping other one off. Was better while testing.

While tweaking the speedometer drive gear in the evil one, I noticed the gear I installed in the survivor years ago when changing tire profile. Same gear. Checked the evil one, it has a 2.71 SG, so they match even more now. Explains why the clean one was always a bit crisper. 3.21 would kill top end and already have one of those so these are staying.

So I pulled the wasted linings out, went back to the truck shop, talked to guy that did it. He had no clue how it could have come part. Other guy had the balls to charge me for redoing it but whatever. Put about 20-30 miles on it since, been acting fine.

Original B-body intermediate cable w/ Raybestos BC95837 10" extension. install on left side. use original C-body body to brake cable.

1980 GMC Van parking brake wheel cable. Raybestos BC92918. Passenger side body to brake cable, reuse dust shield from C-body.

Adjust like a parking brake cable, if the brand new linings don't fall apart yer done.

Now it's ready for some miles after some years. Last time driven before just waking up was 1996 - break in motor before going to body shop.

Put a plate on the evil one, started shaking it down.

Original am/fm/8 needs a belt, have am/fm/cd for the other one. I've never been able to get past having 2 that were nearly identical as shipped.
