1-3/8" small stem pinion (aka. '741')>
Carrier casting numbers: 1820657 (1957-1964), 2070741 (1964-1972). This assembly was typically used in low weight/low horsepower applications through low weight/medium horsepower and high weight/low horsepower applications. Pinion depth and bearing preload is set with shims. Differential bearing setting (ie. backlash ) is set with threaded adjusters.

Number is on the other side, they are big, and you go by the last 3 digits, ie, 741, 742 or 489.

By looking at the picture and reading what the car came with I'd say it's the small guy 741

I think i just understand, the number on passenger side is 1820657. So it's a 741

I think like 63 dodge, Plymouth, before the 741 casting. I am pretty sure that was what was in my 63 Dodge 330 from the factory. I also think the sure grip in the early 8 3/4 were slightly different as well. It would be a small pinion. 1957 to 1964

I was gonna' ask- what's it on, and what'd it come off of?

Real early, maybe?

Per his original post (easy to miss at bottom): 64 Belvedere /6

'58-'64 c body 8 3/4. Uses 1 3/8" pinion so similar to a 741 but the earlier version (657)
