That my friend is a great idea and one I’ve been thinking about a good bit recently, I know for sure the old rear diffs in the fiftees at least my 57 Dodge pick up has one ( 657 or 9) can’t remember! Drain plug would make life easier on diff oil changes

Opposed to what came out of the 4-speed transmission, the rear end oil was pretty ugly.

Rear ends generally run hotter than a 4 speed does. Once the stick is in high gear, it's a straight through locked up shaft while the rear end is a gear set that is always engaged.....
