For me, from the time I bought my RR at 15 I grew up paying my own bills so burnouts were a non-starter. I did however routinely practice launches so when the time came to do a little unofficial late night racing I had it down cold.

1961 Pioneer 313 3 speed. Smaller clutch than a chev 6.
It would do a one wheel peel and actually smoke the tire. My mother would bring it up to about 2500 rpm or more, then very slowly ease off on the clutch. One time we were going home from town and we got stuck in the ruts , they were building a new grid road. I walked to the neighbours, about 100 yards. By the time he got the tractor and headed back you could see the smoke billowing out from under the car, did get it home. About two days later a new clutch went in. The car was pretty well retired in 1973. I think 5 clutches went into that car.
Sold it a few years ago to a fellow that really likes 60th f 61’s.
He is a high school shop instructor and the car will be a class project. It even had the Mopar interior car warmer. Had visions of redoing it at sometime. Realized that it would be in another lifetime.

WHY DID/DO you want to do "burn-outs".....it proves nothing....except to keep the tire industry in Business......leavng two 100 foot patches......for what purpose....???
It quite likely that the Sure-grip unit in your '70 Coronet has a #489 case 8-3/4" and has the cone clutch sure-grip unit. These are sort of fixable by machining the faces of the clutch units ~ 0.060" from opposing clutch faces, to allow the tapered cones to re-contact the carrier. The only issue is the differential gears move further apart allowing higher contact forces on the available gear tooth area which could cause tooth breakage under shock loading......ie, burn outs..........just my opinion of course.....others will have their own opinions......
