Installing new inner seals in axel tubes in a 8:75 rear end. When pulling it apart I noticed the end play adjuster was on the left axel shaft. I've been reading on adjusting the end play and everything has referenced the adjuster on the right side. A precious owner must have mixed them up. The car has been driven a lot of miles alike this. Anyone ever seen them switched? Problems like this?

Shouldn't be. The procedure would simply be done on the driver's side. The correct position for the axle with the adjuster is on the passenger's side though.

The only reason I can think of having the adjuster on the RT side is the forward rotation of the axle, assuming I'm visualizing this correctly, would not unscrew the adjuster and cause the axle to come out. MoPar had a thing about left hand threaded wheel studs so this wouldn't surprise me. But from an adjustment standpoint it makes no difference.

I thought about that too, but as long as the lock tang is in place, even being on the driver's side wouldn't hurt it.

Yep, plus when you tighten the plate it's hard to move that adjuster - usually anyway.

Yeah it was double redundant and they didn't even know it......or maybe they did. lol
