Are there higher RPM weights for the 904 governor or can I use the 727 parts? Even with a shift kit my tranny shifts wasy to soon unless I shift manually that is.

Geez!! That 904 governor HAS to be better than the one we just got in CA!! Sorry, couldn't resist!

I think there are lots of interchangeable parts between the 727 and 904 and I wouldn't be surprised if that's one of them.

When I bought my car I was told it had a shift kit in it, and it was a slap stick auto. Ive had very few auto's, mine were always 4-speed and no more then nothing about the tranny in the car. I cant take it out of the shop right now. Is there any way I can find out if I was told right about all this? I have drove thru the yard to get it from one building into another but never had it on the road yet. Thanks, Ron...

I'm using a kick down cable and it seems to be adjusted properly. It does shift later when I get on it but its about 3000 rpm and is firm enough to chirp the tires (or break them completely loose if the roads wet).

If your going inside your transmission check the line pressure adjustment, blue spring pushed in by small plate moved by allen screw adjuster.1 5/16" valve body to small plate. Then check throttle lever cam to kickdown valve. With kickdown pushed in and bottomed should be .625 between it and cam, lock cam lever stop screw. Most likely not line pressure as throttle valve is what allows more pressure to be applied against governor pressure.Manuals will say valve body must be removed to do this, drop the pan, have patience and you can do this. You may have to cut up or make a tool to measure but its easier than taking off the tail shaft.
