been awhile since pulling a trans.
have driver side long tube header loose, starter removed, driveshaft removed.
Check me on next steps, rotate engine to get converter drain to 6 O'clock, drain. Paint one of the bolts to allow future assembly. Rotate engine and remove converter bolts.
disconnect clips and pull shaft thru access hole in frame
disconnect trans lines, speedo, etc
Support engine.
remove trans mount while supporting trans
remove final bellhousing bolts
pull trans back, secure converter, lower trans.

Leave the selector shaft in place. Just remove the nut holding the inner pivot support to the case and the clip retaining the shift rod to the shift lever. Don't forget to flush the cooler lines while the trans is out! I like braker cleaner followed with compressed air.

@493 Mike
when you say nut at inner pivot, you mean #1?
And retaining clip to shift rod, you mean #2?
I thought the shaft would have to be removed because its anchored at the fender with a bracket.
thanks,
Brad

@493 Mike or @anyone
i want to be sure i understand because the FSM doesn't spell it out.
So I detach clips or nut (red circles) and leave shaft on trans to gear selector(yellow).
The assembly at each shaft (red arrow) should slide out and away from trans.?
I have to rely on the knowledge here...no buddies own a mopar.

Reference lower photo: Yes to remove lower circle hardware
Remove yellow KD rod (clips at each end).
Remove last clip at top/front of bellcrank and leave bellcrank with pivot attached.

@493 Mike
thanks for your input. All came apart. I had to knock 50 yrs of grime off it, LOL.
Hoping to lower the trans tonight.
