This is for a fellow FBBO, not my car.

We just swapped the engine out of a 1965 Belvedere II. It had a /6 with a 904 (cable shifter)

Car cranks, fires, just won't go into any gear. Haven't gotten under the car to check the cables. It has fluid, checked in neutral and hot. Still won't move, no R - 123 but will go in park.

Any tips or ideas on whats wrong? In the morning I'll go under the car and check the cables to see if they're hooked up right. (Neutral safty works) won't start crank in r or 123.

All 904s-727s have had one thing fail -reverse, 3rd etc. I haven't ever had the car NOT move at all.

I'm stumped, anything helps! Thanks

You did put the drive shaft in, right? JK, but ya never know.
If it starts in park and neutral, but not in r 3 2 1 then i would say the cable is working.
Either is a pump issue or valve body issue. Regardless, at the very least the pan will need to come off for inspection. Make sure the filter isnt clogged. No fluid through the filter, no movement.

Forgot the Drive shaft! Amateur move!

Haha, joking.

I believe the pump works, Had fluid spray everywhere when we had a kink in the cooling lines. I'll have him pull the pan, hopefully tonight.
