A31 package 7 blade torque drive fan stuff.

The pix shown uses a HYDEN THERMAL DRIVE FAN CLUTCH......fyi.....
BOB RENTON

No **** Bob, do you think I’m stupid? I asked the question because that’s the easiest way to differentiate between a thermal and viscous clutch…

It's a viscous clutch. So yeah, need the correct fan and clutch combo. Drats.

Reviving this thread, a couple of questions about clutch vs solid fans. Do the Hemi/440-6 Torque Clutch aluminum fans move as much air as a fixed steel solid fan? If so, is there an aftermarket equivalent to the Mopar clutch? I thought I read somewhere that there is a specific part number Hayden clutch but now I can't find where I read that.

Thanks,
Jim

Yeah and it's very cheap. Simply based on the posts I encountered while looking for this I would avoid. Also read plenty of argument about the air volume. So that's not why I am even after the fan, I just want to restore my A31 components. Not the best answer but that's the totality of knowledge I got after a few hours reading on here and the other forum.

Some info from Hayden. The link is for a PDF file.

Good stuff, thanks for sharing. So it looks like HD or Severe Duty clutches operate up to 90% water pump speed so pretty close. It talks about fan pitch, anyone have any info on the angle for most 60's 70's Mopar fans? Thx

Look at the third line on your Broadcast Sheet for the two digit codes under 'FAN' and 'FAN SPA'.

For 1970 Chargers there are three different part numbers for 7-bladed fans. Which two digits are on your BS?
16 - 7 BLADE PN2863216
23 - 7 BLADE PN2863223
24 - 7 BLADE PN2863224

For 1970 Chargers there are two torque fan drives. Which two digits are on your BS?
FAN SPA: Fan Spacer.
59 - 1.06" FAN SPACER PN1851959 WITH TORQUE FAN DRIVE PN2863259

70 - TORQUE FAN DRIVE PN2806070

Have your BS information on hand when you call an outfit like Mancini Racing and ask for restoration parts.

1970 Coronet and Charger are sister cars. Your car and my car were both built in St. Louis. I would expect shared parts to have identical part numbers.
