Can't say I know much about this guy or the business in general, but I can sympathize with some of what he's saying. However, talk about burning your bridges... Honda dude is gonna be pissed.

I made it through a few minutes of that. That ole boy needs to see some serious help with his anger issues.

Dam. I have no sympathy for him at all. Usually a mom and dad shop can say no to doing a job. Look how dirty that shop is. Nope , wouldn't take anything to someone like that. To be honest its his doings for his own actions.

Made it five minutes then realized it was a waste of my time.

You know I'm sure some customers suck, it comes with the territory but when he says how much other restoration shops charge and how he charges half that as he needs the work and the fact he is in this business 40 years, well maybe its time he either works for a collision shop or does collision work.
I think a guy who wants a Honda like that restored is either totally dedicated to old Hondas or really does not understand what it takes in time and material to restore any car. A shop owner needs to know when to walk away from a job as some people who are just plain ignorant.
I had a small one man business and I will never forget once when I did a job for a customer, nice guy who had his shop in a industrial park. There were a row of shops all with big roll up doors. I was finishing up a job and the guy next door wants something fixed. There was really only one way to do it and that's the right way. I explained it all and since I was there and honestly needed the work, I gave the guy a ridiculously low price.
This idiot looked at me like I just robbed him and starts giving me ****, to which I told him no problem get somebody else.
In retrospect it was one of the potential customers i got very lucky by never working for.

Holy. Fast forward. And still yapping. That vid should detour him future jobs. To funny.

having been thru this myself,i can sort of relate.
however, the guy owns his own shop and allowed himself to get goatroped.
he has no one to blame but himself.

btw, this is My friend Pete,is what he is called, and yes,hes always an angry dude.
he has done some good vids on how to do bodywork before.
hes nowheres near the caliber of the other guy who does car repairs and tips online tho.
this guy is way better and really is an asset.

I've seen some of his vids, he's that way through all of them. Talks down at his kid who used to help him but I guess he got it figured out about the old man and ghosted him. Maybe had a rough time in the Navy but all in all like most here agree, he needs anger management or sit down and smoke a big fat one :fool:

I made it to nearly 15 minutes. I can see what he is trying to say here, and I agree with a lot of it. Too many people out there watch too much TV and think **** happens for free. Being a small business owner myself, I sympathise with him to a degree also.
And as a customer of certain other trades/professions, I also see others get away with charging a decent margin without all the problems....listen to the comparison of his with buying dishwash liquid at Walmart....spot on analogy.

Went in less than 5 minutes. Built several engines for others over the years and well, most didn't have a clue what was going on then try to negotiate price. One guy even told me I didn't have the overhead like a commercial shop does since my shop is in my back yard. Damn dude, you been opening my mail and checking my bills?? Told him he needed to move on. When I started doing rear ends, things got better since so many had no idea what was going on inside them.....heck, sometimes I don't either! :D

Best thing to do instead of listening to someone complain is to just mention. That shop down at the other end of the block is open for business. And they may take your money for a lesser amount and the job will reflect it.

I made it about 10 minutes in and I wish I could get that portion of my life back to have used more constructively. I have owned my own small business for 37 years, if things aren't working out then you find out why and change direction till they do. Small business owners have all worked 7 days in a week and 14 hours or more in a day, they have worked on their birthday and probably holidays too, often times when employees have long gone home. It's a choice, own what you do and what you have become, because when you work for yourself there is really nobody else to blame.

Guy needs to get his blood pressure and sugar checked. Or maybe he's constipated. I'd hate to be his customer.

Since most of you stated that you only made to the 5 minute mark before bailing...I didn't even try. Thanks for sparing me from that waste of time...

Ehh, even if you don't agree with a thing he says it's still immensely entertaining. But maybe I'm a glutton for punishment.

Works out of Dallas. The guy knows his stuff...and has a personality of a wounded badger. Reminds me of of some other B Body folks...hehe. Not listing any names....feel free to add some. (kidding)

if ya do what ya love ... you will never work a day in your life ...... I get there are hard days for the small guy and im guessing he is tired... but the big guys got that way not overnight but with years of hard work and knowing how to deal with ppl ....... maby he should retire if he hates it so much. maby not ... i retired in 2012 and im busyer now than when i working. but i realy do love what i do. i mite not have my 62 yet but going to a local car gathering and being able to say i had a hand in a realy sweet ride and haveing the owner use my name in a good way is worth more than money to me .... kinda puts a spring in my limp.
