Ok so I finally am the proud owner (I think- lol) of the 73 RR. I have to go out of state next week to pick it up, so I havent seen it yet, but it is mine, pending an inspection when I get there & verifying it is what he says it is. It supposedly is a 22,000 mile, numbers matching survivor. I hope he is telling me the truth. It has been repainted, but looks great. Look at the pix & tell me if you see anything that I should be worried about. It has been modified with a 4BBL, headers, wheels, ect & has an aftermarket sterio in it, & maybe ? the seats have been recovered (can anyone tell?) but other than that should be very original.Tell me what you all think because this is my first MOPAR purchase! Thanks!

Love the car hate the color. But that is an incredbly optioned car for a runer I's have sworn I'd see an RP on the vin tag with seat medalions, the halo roof, no graphics, passenger mirror, looks like a 3 speed wiper. But it's got a rear sway bar usually found with big motor. Double check the hidden numbers. If it's all right? There ain't many with those options

Looks like you got a nice car. Congratulations on your first Mopar!

As you probably know, your car is a 318 small block with a 904 automatic transmission. This was the base Road Runner drive line in 1973, with 170 (or maybe 175 - book is inconsistent) horsepower. The rear ratio is likely a 2.71 open rear 8 1/4. They made 19056 Road Runners in 1973.

The wing on the trunk has been added, they were not available in 1973.

I believe the car should have a decal in front of the hood. All that I have seen have the Road Runner in a circle. Evidence of damage or repaint? Not sure - maybe something to check out.

Also, the drivers door should have a decal with the VIN and production date. Check that out as well.

Welcome to Mopars! Enjoy the car!

Great looking RR hope it is everything is exactly the way you want it.

Great looking Runner and congrats on the new car! If you get a chance post some pictures in the thread I started for the 73-74 Plymouth cars. Would love to see it over there and hear more about it.

I like that color its very different and the top looks great on it.

The rear spoiler is mounted too far forward, but that can be fixed. Rest of the car looks super clean!

I think sway bars were standard on RR, no matter what engine.

Looks like there may be some work at the quarter to rocker seam very common, even on otherwise solid cars.

My money is on a repaint. Wheel wells and rest of quarters look real good and solid.

No wheel well moldings. No door top moldings.

One rear seat medallion missing...and no holes or depression?

I like it!

My RL21 base Satellite has 3 speed wipers and a/c. Just sayin'.

On this car, where are the "hidden numbers"?

There are two locations for the hidden numbers. Under the hood to cowl seal on the drivers side and behind the radiator on the upper support on the drivers side. Here are the photos of locations with the numbers circled. Should be the last 6 of the VIN, and can be shallow stampings.

Great replies, thanks. How about some opinions on value? Also, he has the build sheet so I can see what options it came with. How about the seats? Do they look original?

Decode the fender tag on mymopar.com.

Just noting the abscense of moldings. Tag should tell. Common not to have too many moldings on RR model.

Well here's one of those hiccups with the following site- They don't show a 318 RR for 73.
They do list a 318 for 74. Ballpark anyway.

I saw that car on eb, I think.

I think the color works, esp with the cragars.

Although a baby blue car with that nasty mean hood probably ought to move a little better than a 318.
Esp with whats out on the streets today.

Pic of drivers door....gap at the back of the door looks a little odd. Might be just the angle the picture was taken from. Looks like a nice ride though.

Looks like a nice ride to me, I like that color although with some stripes to off in MHO i think it would double the looks on it..

Yes, it should have at least one, but could have two, also it should have machine gun style exhaust tips!

I got my hood stripes from phoenix graphix. I think that black hood stripes would look fantastic with the Black roof and wing.
Nice ride. Even nicer when it does not look like every one else's.

I have no idea why everybody thinks they have to paint a Mopar Sublime or Plum crazy. I used to like them, but now it just seems to say that someone is just trying too hard to do or be the (IN) thing. If the car was made that way then it is good. If it was not made that way I'd rather have an original color, even if It is not my favorite at first. I have found that those colors do grow on a person. Hell I thought I was going to paint mine black, but now after two years? It will be red as long as I have it.

If I did the graphics, I would have to remove the roadrunner emblem & bird decal from below the vinyl top. Are those supposed to be there? Also I see a gap between the top of the back bumper & the trunk lid. Should there be a filler panel there?

Phoenix don't show them but they do offer a hood only grephics kit for around 50 bucks. I did that on my 74 with the vynal roof. Hood only no side or roof over. It will really make that hood pop, go gloss black rather than black reflective.
I may try to get a pic later. This one is hard to see.
