What are the options for shifters with a cable shift trans. The car is a 65 with a cable shift trans and a column shift. Looking at going to a vintage style floor mounted aftermarket one. Can it be done?

Simply put.................NOPE! You need a factory floor mounted shifter from a 1964-1965 Dart, Valiant, Barracuda, or any B or C body car. You'll also need the floor shifter cables.

When I bought my '62 Polara, it has the pushbutton dash shifting cables but someone put a "modern" 727 auto in it along with a B&M floor mounted star shifter. They left the cable shifter stuffed into a frame hole. (Zzzz) I know it's not "retro" but it is possible. You would have to get rid of the "old style" ball & trunion trans. If you don't have a modern 727 lying around, don't bother with the hassel and go find that "cable counsel shiter" Wedgie mentioned.

Could someone with a 65 parts book get me the lengths of the cables for the trans? It's a LHD US built column shifted car. Looking to go to the console shifter. My 64 book covers my 64 not my buddies 65.

I found the cables at Imperial Services....45" shift cable $229.00 part # B425
The park cable is part # B 429 and $209.00. Dealer is engine-swap.com 206-364-7151.
I'm still looking for used ones to use with my console.
