ale differences

i just bought an 8 3/4 out of a 67 cornet. the 3rd member and housing was on the car, but there were three axles in the car. one had twisted splines. how can i measure the axles correctly to match the charts online? like from where to where?. i want to see if they are correct for the housing. thanks. the x on my keyboard is kind of funky.

Can you just try installing them?

How much difference is there between any of the ones that are not installed?

I have a single, uninstalled, adjuster end 66 axle I could measure.

Measure from end of axle splines to the face where the drum goes. Both axles are 28 7/8” for 65-67 b body.

I'd start by counting the splines and see if all three are 30 spline. If the bent one is NOT, then strong chance the ones installed may not be either. 30 spline is STOCK, and only 30 spline.

29 3/16 is a 68-70 b body axle shaft

65-67 housing is 54 1/4
68-70 housing is 54 15/16

no ale while measuring!

wait a minute. end of the splines-not the axle-to where the drum sits is 28 7/8. the other is 29 3/16

Which one? Are you using stock bearings, then you need one with an adjuster.

always good to keep the axles marked R and L so the power is applied to the splimes in the same direction.

unknown. i bought this thing in pieces. didnt know it was apart until i got there. long drive and wasnt coming home empty. i was going to use green bearings. doesnt that get rid of the adjusters? dont know. dont see an adjuster on the correct one i have here, just jagged edge on the bolt on plate.

I am a cheap old carpenter who drinks Busch beer in the can but do occasionally like a good Pale Ale all very cold of course.
