Mr B;so,"MM" was the code for Alabaster in -63,but in -64,it was for Silver Gray Metallic. I thought the paint codes stayed pretty much the same(for -62 and up);educate me on this please. In 1964,"WW" was the code for "white",at least by my DuPont paint chip chart. Did paint codes change from year-to-year?. No matter;great looking car!
So I was down at Bobs garage tonight and this question had us thinking.. we really had no idea how Ma Mopar may have changed paint codes and whatnot, so we decided to do some research.. The internet is a wonderful thing sometimes LOL ...
I found a website with a list of all the paint chips and codes for a good many years for Mopar, heres what we discovered... (I have posted a link down below for the site... so check it out) .. I will cover just 63 and 64 and the paint code MM1 for the moment...
In 63 .. Chrysler, MM1 is Alabaster
Dodge, MM1 is Ivory
Plymouth, MM1 is Light Beige
(Of course all 3 of these colors are the same shade of .. well.. Off white-ish LOL)
In 64 .. Chrysler, MM1 is Madison Gray Poly
Plymouth, MM1 is Silver Gray Poly
(and these 2 are the same shade of gray/silver)
So, it would seem Ma Mopar changed codes and colors from year to year. And its wild how they will give the same shade, several differant names. When Bob went to get the original color he told them that it was a 63 Plymouth Fury, MM1 paint code.. they told him it was alabaster.. near as we can figure it just lumped that code to Chrysler in general for that year.. In fact its actually Light Beige being a Plymouth LOL .. He likes Alabaster better.. so thats the way its gonna be LOL!!!
At any rate I hope that helps answer the question, enjoy the link, we found it very informative and helpful...
